In conjunction with ACCA’s major exhibition Eva Rothschild: Kosmos (28 September – 25 November 2018), ACCA launched a new writing program presented in partnership with RMIT University non/fictionLab supported by Media Partners, Art+Australia, Art Guide Australia and The Lifted Brow, for 15 participants selected by application.

Rothschild’s artworks are situated in an expanded sculptural practice in which the architectural context, the viewer, sculptural form and materials are in constant relation to one another. Writing in the Expanded Field will explore new methodologies for art writing and criticism, opening writing to an ‘expanded field’ in which the encounter between writer and artwork, and the relations of this engagement, may be animated by various writing positions between the critical, the personal and the imaginary.

The program culminates in a public forum at ACCA collectively curated by program participants with Lucinda Strahan, writer and researcher, RMIT non/fictionLab, and Anabelle Lacroix, ACCA’s Curator for Public Programs. Writing in the Expanded Field adopts an inclusive, workshop-based model which encourages discussion, collaboration and professional development through collective work.

This event formed the public outcome of ACCA’s new writing program, Writing in the Expanded Field, alongside ACCA's exhibition Eva Rothschild: Kosmos (2018).
